The waterfall methodology is a project management approach that emphasizes a linear progression from beginning to end of a project. Often our clients require a new facility, or conversion of an existing facility to new software, to be brought online in a single step. Teasdale Solutions will preform exhaustive requirements gathering an design before configuring existing software packages, coding extensions, interfaces, and integrations, and working with clients to test and deploy the final solution. Throughout process of configuration, and coding we seek to show our progress in 2 - 3 conference room pilots (CRP's).
1) CRP 1 - Demonstrating Base Functionality of existing software packages configured for our clients business
2) CRP 2 - Demonstrating Base Functionality along with software extensions and interfaces to a host system
3) CRP 3 - Demonstrating Base Functionality, Integrations, and integrations to Material Handling Equipment and other external resources.
The Agile methodology is a way to manage a project by breaking it up into several phases. It involves constant collaboration with stakeholders and continuous improvement at every stage. For clients with existing implementations requiring new functionality, splitting up new features into distinct sprints and deploying these features incrementally provides a methodical cadence of deployments.
Splitting up the implementation of a new facility into distinct subject-oriented sprints allows for incrementing testing and less risks at the end of an implementation and at the final go live. When our clients have bandwidth to participate in multiple cycles of planning, design, testing and review, we encourage a mixed methodology. This builds out individual functional areas one at a time, testing each, and ensuring that at each stage the needs of our clients are reliably met. Additional sprints can be added for integration with material handling processes, picking location replenishment, and packing processes.
Some of our clients would prefer to manage project in accordance with their own processes and methodology and contract subject matter experts under their own terms, we are happy to provide resources under those terms.
